Discovering career paths

In preparing students for a life after high school, we have developed a Career Life Connections course for all students at Burnett.  The course is designed to identify and develop each student’s personal interests, passions and goals.

Students reflect on the learning experiences and competency development in school and community, and explore roles and possibilities in personal, education and work-life contexts.

Career Life Connections facilitates the community networking and experiential learning to benefit decision making both within and outside of school.  Grade 12 students will also concurrently design and produce a graduation Capstone project.

Career Life Connections include lessons and assignments during 4 Career Conference Days.  All students are given the opportunity to discover possible career paths.

  • The first and second conference days will focus developing a better understanding of self, as well as planning and preparing to meet the requirements for CLC (Capstone for gr. 12s). Students will listen to presenters, ask questions, & build on their interests.
  • The third conference day will focus on health and wellness for all students, as well as Grade 12 students preparing for Capstone 12, completing scholarships applications and bonding with classmates.
  • The fourth conference day will be dedicated to graduating students presenting their Capstone Projects and their five years of learning at Burnett. Younger students will get an opportunity watch the presentations and prepare for their capstone projects in their grade 12 year.
