Consent Education Grade 8 to 12

The Ministry of Education and Child Care has expanded curriculum content in “Consent Education and gender-based violence.” In response, the Richmond School district is partnering with the Exploitation Education Institute to share a presentation on ‘All About Consent’ with all secondary schools. 

This presentation will be at Burnett Secondary School on Dec. 15, during Conference Day. All grades will participate. The aim of these interactive presentations is to provide students with more confidence in what constitutes consent (in-person and online) and how to practice it. Students will also learn more about how to access resources and support. 

It is important to note, that there is no provision for parents/guardians to have their child opt out of the prescribed BC Curriculum because the aspects do not align with their values and/or beliefs.  This is mandated provincial curriculum.  Should you have any further questions, please contact the school’s Principal, Mr. M. The J N Burnett PAC Fundraising Committee will hold a Winter Holiday Raffle in December 2023. Tickets cost $2 each, and we will draw the raffle winners on January 26, 2024.
