- If a staff or student missed Photo Day or needs to retake their school photo, Photo Retake Day is tomorrow, October 29, 2026 in the morning only. Students needing to take a photo will be called alphabetically by grade (starting with Grade 8s) to the Multipurpose room by PA announcement.
Please note...
- Students needing retakes must bring their ID card to be photographed. There is a QR code on the back of the card photographers need to scan.
- All retake photos will replace the original day photo for a new ID card, pictorial and image in the yearbook. However, students will still be able to view and order both images online.
- Artona does not allow students to wear hats or sunglasses in our photos. All staff and students are encouraged to have had their school photo taken. Photos are used for Student ID Cards and the school yearbook. Students do NOT need to purchase an Artona photo package to have their photo taken.
- Halloween can be fun; however, we need to be aware that celebrating Halloween needs to be fun for ALL and not at the expense of equity seeking groups. It is important to keep in mind that we need to be sensitive to groups that have been marginalized through mimicry and cultural appropriation during Halloween and other ‘dress up” events.
Halloween costumes may be unsuitable if they contain any of these elements:
- Weapons - even fake ones are not allowed at school as part of one's costume
- Cultural or racial stereotypes – includes black face/brown face, Indigenous regalia, dreadlocks, etc.
- Masks that cover one’s face
- Religious faith – e.g. religious figures, gods, saints, gurus, hijab, etc.
- Gender – gender switching for humour or to mock
- Trauma – e.g. hangman’s noose/weapons, etc.
If you are unsure about your costume, please check in with Ms. Ten-Pow, Mr. Winograd or Ms. Naidu.
