K-12 Reporting Information
For the 2022-23 school year, some teachers will be reporting your child's understanding featuring the words emerging, developing, proficient, and extending. This new language will be replacing our previous use of letter grades as part of the Ministry of Education's K-12 Reporting policy. The new proficiency scale will be implemented across BC in September or 2023. We want to use this year to help students, parents, and teachers prepare, adjust and understand the changes.
What you may see:
Grade 8 & 9: You may see emerging, developing, proficient, or extending instead of a letter grade.
Grade 10-12: You will still see a percentage in the grade column. You may see emerging, developing, proficient, or extending to describe a student's learning.
